Netiquette

Netiquette is etiquette for the inter"net", and is a set of rules that you should follow while using the Internet. Netiquette affects everyone that uses the Internet. Some examples of good netiquette are not flaming, flaming is not holding back what you say, and respecting and being polite to others on-line. Some poor Netiquette is just jumping into a conversation and not making any sense about what you are saying, and not respecting other's privacy. You should always use good netiquette while using the Internet.

Social networking

A social network is a site where you can connect with people online, you can talk, see pictures and information about the person using the site. anyone can use it and it is free-formed. A digital footprint is a log of all the places and things you see on the web or put on a site such as pictures. It keeps track of all the sites you go to and things you put on the Internet. Social networking affects digital footprint  by making it possible for other people to see where you have been on the internet. Colleges and employers can use this to look at your stuff and it can affect weather you get a job or into a college.

Copyright: is downloading music legal?

Copyright is a form of protection given to original works of authorship. It includes literary, music, artistic, and other works. With music for example the songs are copyrighted and many rules go along with acquiring the songs to listen to or use for other purposes. sharing music on peer-to-peer networks are illegal and go against the copyright laws. If you buy music and use it for your own personal use, such as listening to it, it is perfectly legal. It can also be used for educational purposes. If you copy a CD and give it to or sell it to someone then that is illegal and goes against the copyright laws. Copyright can be confusing but if you follow the rules for copyright then no problems will occur and you can enjoy music, movies and other things.

copyright case

This copyright case is between an artist who created the Barack Obama "Hope" poster and the Associated Press. The dispute started when Shepard Fairey (the artist) used a photo taken by an AP reporter and used it for the Obama "Hope" poster. The picture was taken in  2006 and the poster was created in 2008, when Obama ran for president. A judge later dismissed lawsuit between them. There was still a trial date in March for related claims between the news service and companies that sold the merchandise made with the image.

Research Project wrap-up

I did a presentation on Greece for our country projects in computers. My favorite part of the project was learning more about the country and seeing all the different tour stops that you can go and see. My least favorite part was trying to compile all the information on to the power point and so it would meet the requirements and still make sense. One of the tour stops was fairly difficult to find information on but after a while I found enough info to put on the slide for it. some strong points were that my information was easy to read and understand on the power point. some weak points were that I had to look up at the screen a lot to remember the information I was talking about. there is not a whole lot of suggestions I would give to Mrs. Fowler, I thought the project was pretty good.

My Year in Review

The highlight of this year was finally getting out of Jr. high, getting to go skiing and hanging out with friends this summer. I didn't really have a low point of 2011, it was a pretty good year. what I would have done differently was try some new things that I didn't get to for whatever reason. my goals for 2012 would be to finish 9th grade, have a great track season, have a better cross country season next year and a great start to 10th grade. if I were given $100,000 I would by a car and some other things.
